Y’all, did you peep this?! Plus size staple Lane Bryant to introduce extended sizing to their brand! Yes, beyond a size 28 and up through a size 40 in select styles.
For a while, Lane Bryant’s old sister brand, Catherine’s was where one could go to get fashion beyond a 28, but this has changed. With the recent sale of Catherine’s to Full Beauty (named changed back to One Stop Plus), this left a hole in the size offerings from the brands.
The loss of Catherine’s as a sister brand is our gain with Lane Bryant extending sizes…
Here is What to Know with Lane Bryant Extending Sizes
Lane Bryant will start extending their size range (currently 12-28) beginning this February! This inclusive rollout will start with LIVI Active.
After active and loungewear, you will see additional items increasing their ranges, in sizes up to a 38/40!
For this inclusion, Lane Bryant made sure that “the product has been fit on women who identify as a size within the new range, to ensure impeccable fit and comfort in each garment.”
For fans of Lane Bryant’s Cacique Intimates, get ready for extended sizes in bras and panties, too!
Get this… Bra band sizes will be available in sizes 34-54 (currently only goes up to a size 50 band) with cup sizes B-K. and panties in sizes 12-36.
Yup. Like we said. Major news!
Now we need models up to size 40 and beyond to model these clothes!
Shout out to Lane Bryant for hearing our call for more inclusion. As one of the oldest plus size brands, we do look to them to be a leader in industry and community needs.
This addition allows for other brands to take note, make changes, and take action… because who decided that plus size stops at a 24/3X anyways?
This will be a continual rollout, as they continue to add to the extended size selections. BUT! If you cannot wait until February, for Lane Bryant to introduce extended sizing, there are a few items you can scoop up TODAY in up to size 40!
What items would you like to see offered in their extended range? Honestly, every items should be offered.
Be sure to keep an eye out and check out LaneBryant.com in February!
We are pleasantly surprised with this news and love that those over a size 4X have more options to choose from… but there still needs to be more. BUT this is a welcomed change.
We see that this is definitely becoming the norm, and we LOVE to see it!!
What brands do you want to see extend their size offerings, next?
It would be nice to have more places that offer extended sizes in tall. I also would love to get shoes that fit me. I wear a size 13. No one carries a size 13.
This is an amazing point!!! Will look into this!
I agree, I am a 6’3” woman and wear a 26/26 and size 13 shoe. Honestly, the tall they offer isn’t always tall enough either!
Any of the brands at this point. It’s exhausting trying to find anything anymore. While I appreciate that LB is extending their size offerings, I’m not hopeful in the slightest. Their largest panty size they currently offer is billed as a 28 but fits at best like a 24 in other brands. Absolutely none of their clothing in the current larger sizes are fashionable or otherwise attractive in any way; it’s moreso a “well at least the important bits are covered” type of design in both patterning and print. There’s no such thing as fashion past a 24 unless you’re willing to spend an absurd amount of money on some of the limited plus-size designers out there. It’s tiring. I’m tired. Size 30+ bodies have always existed, there’s absolutely no reason for companies whose profits hinge on fat people spending their money there, and them knowing that this population has very limited options, for there not to have been accessible sizing options in the first place. Kudos to you for pointing out the lack of and advocating for appropriate representation with their models, but I have little love for any massive plus-size retailer at this point.
As a bbw and former fashion merchandising major, I’ve long awaited this much needed size inclusivity! It was a long time coming and hopefully more brands and chains will follow suit. Bravo on the article sister, it’s on point!
Thank you so much! And I totally agree, we need to see more brands make the efforts to accommodate the plus community! Steps in the right direction, for sure!
Thank you so much for this article Mayra. I agree with others that Lane Bryant does run small in their sizing. I’m at the top of their former sizing but could hardly fit into any of it. I hope especially they expand their sexy lingerie section as that area often hasn’t even gone past a band size 46 even once they gave a few bras extended sizes. And it’s so hard to find lingerie for a plus and tall person. It all comes up so short on me. Also for all you stunning humans out their who have larger feet. Torrid goes up to a size 13 and all shoes are wide, some calf’s boots are even extended. Avenue also may have shut down all in person stores. But I’ve been getting their Cloudwalker shoes, also up to a 13 wide for years. Torrid is more on trend. DSW also sells size 13 and even larger shoes in wide or regular medium size. All great places to look for shoes if you have larger feet!! You can also find some solid 6 inch pole heels on eBay in size 13 plus if you look! Sorry for the long reply. Good luck to you all!!
Thanks for taking time out to comment Nicole! Yes, sadly its all too common that sizing is so hit or miss.. esp when it comes to plus! Thanks for your tips and feedback!!!
