As cities worldwide gather to celebrate Pride this month, there’s no reason why the celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community needs to end once July 1 rolls around. Raising up and supporting LGBTQIA+ folks is something that you can and should do year-round. If you’re a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally, one easy way to show support is to shop with LGBTQIA+-owned brands that offer plus sizes.

Money talks and investing your dollars back to LGBTQIA+ -owned brands and designers allows these businesses to grow, thrive, and serve their community, all while outfitting you with some killer threads.

Since I know the frustration of finding the perfect queer fashion piece and seeing the largest size offered is only a medium, I wanted to shine a light specifically on the LGBTQIA+ -owned boutiques and designers that either offer plus sizes or cater specifically to larger-bodied babes.

6. Pride by Sammy

Burn The Binary Tee by Pride by Sammy

Pride by Sammy was founded by Sammy (she/her) “to help spread LGBTQIA+ pride! All of these designs are custom made by me, so you won’t find them anywhere else online. I created these tees in response to people in my life who have told me, “you’re just going through a phase,” or, “being gay is a choice.” I know I’m not alone in these experiences.

I wanted to make sure that all tees are produced ethically. Before printing, the tees are purchased wholesale from a 100% no sweatshop and environmentally responsible (WRAP certified) production facility and are all printed here in the U.S.

Ultimately, my goal was to create pride apparel that you’d be proud to wear.”

10. Black Tie Bi

As a proud bisexual, I would be remiss not to plug “Black Tie Bi,” a shop owned by bisexual folks who are, in their own words: “Classy AF with alliteration, puns, finger guns, rhymes and good times. In seriousness, though, when you shop with us, you are helping to promote bi visibility for our entire community. Bi visibility is so important, and this shop was founded to create fun, unique, and interesting designs for bisexual people to show our pride. Whether you want subtle pride or loud and proud designs, there are plenty to choose from.”

Their sizes go up to 4XL, and you can shop their awesome collection here!

This list is not exhaustive but hopefully it helps you discover some new brands and make you mindful of who you are supporting. Rainbow apparel is great but helping an LGBTQ-owned business thrive is BETTER.
