How long have you been blogging?

9 years – 3 as a wedding planner with a blog and 6 as a wedding blogger

What or who inspired you to become a wedding blogger? What led you to it?

As a plus size bride, I went into wedding planning with the intention to help new brides and realized that the main people that needed help were plus size brides. I didn’t find anything to help me plan my wedding, specific to me. So knowing this void, I set out to create a space that would bring inspiration to plus size brides.

Do you run Pretty Pear Bride full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your journey!

Yes, I can finally say that I do. I started out doing it part time with teaching high school biology and planning weddings, but then decided to take the leap and I haven’t looked back since.

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

My legs, arms, chest and back side. I tend to wear tons of skirts and dresses. I truly have been blessed to be with a husband who loves all of me and reminds me of that ever day!

We are in the midst of Plus Bridal Week, What do you think are the challenges and pluses of being a plus size bride today?

The biggest challenge for plus size brides is having inspiration that relates to them, that’s where I’ve come in and really helped to make a space where plus size brides can see themselves in the bridal industry.

I feel another challenge is finding bridal attire that actually fits a plus size bride. Bridal designers often think that all plus size bodies are created equal and they aren’t. And along with that is a plus, we as plus size women have something that other body types don’t have and that is a shape that can fill out wedding dresses totally differently.

With our curves and sizes, plus size brides are able to fully fill out wedding dresses.

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?

As plus size woman, I’m constantly frustrated with the fact that I can’t find clothing that fits my style. I have a very classy, chic and preppy style, and most brands that I love don’t have plus sizes. It’s so upsetting to know that there are brands that I love but I can’t patronage. This needs to definitely change!

What’s your favorite thing about being the owner of a plus size bridal site?

That I have the chance to truly make a difference. What I do everyday really impacts people. I have created something that people look at every day for inspiration… it’s a great feeling!

What do you think about where plus size fashion and plus size bridal fashion are today versus a few years back?

Plus size bridal fashion? Both have definitely come a long way but they have farther to go. I just feel that designers, both bridal and regular fashion, think that plus size women are all build the same.

Which we all know isn’t the case at all.

They really need to work on creating fashions that match the variety of shapes and styles of plus size women.

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion and/or being a plus size bride?

One of the biggest myths of a plus size brides, is that we only need to have A-line dresses and nothing else. I love how designers are adding in more fit and flare and curve hugging dresses.

Plus size bodies look so good showing off all these gorgeous curves that we have.

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?

We are working on our newest issue coming out and our upcoming issues of the year. Also getting the word out about our bridal salon directory and looking for salons wanting to be added to it.

And as always, we are always looking for real weddings, engagements and bridal showers to share with our readers. You can visit our submissions page for more information!

How Long Have You Been blogging? 4 years on and off

Plus size blogger- Lissa of I am Plus Blog

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?

A lot of my inspiration came from seeing and following other plus-size bloggers who were killing the game at the time! But I yearned to see someone like myself (plus size AND dark-skinned) and at the time, there weren’t that many that I could look up to.

That, in turn, inspired me to become a fashion blogger.

I wanted other women to see themselves in me! It all started when I was trying out trends and outfits that worked for my body. Unbeknownst to me I was planting seeds of confidence in women around me.

Whether on the street or at church, they would compliment me on how well I dressed for my size, without looking older than I was, lol! I became the go-to plus-size stylist and they would come to me whenever they had fashion questions.

With the encouragement of my fiancé (who also is a big and tall blogger), the blog was born!

I wanted to share more of my style and empower other plus size women to discover their own.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!

It started out for fun, but now it’s a part of my everyday life. It has become a part of my purpose.

Earrings: Leopard Print Oval Drop Earrings

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

My favorite asset is definitely my legs! Although I am more on the conservative spectrum, every now and then I show them out.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus size?

The one and only challenge I face is not being able to find the perfect dresses or jumpsuits at time.

I have a larger bust and wide shoulders, so most of the time my dresses would fit perfectly around my bust but loosely around my waist.

It can be a bit frustrating.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?

My favorite thing about being plus size is being able to express my sense of style with no regards to what others think of me!

We are all beautiful and ENOUGH in our size and shape!

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?

My favorite thing about being an influencer is being the plug! I love when I share my findings with others, and they come back to thank me for sharing.

I guess I love the fact that I can make people’s lives a little better and brighter.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?

My favorite brands right now are Lane Bryant, ELOQUII, ASOS, Zara and New York & Co.

Describe your personal style.

Colorful and chic!

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?

My favorite bloggers are and forever will be Soraya De Carvhalo from Style is My Thing and Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook!

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today, versus a few years back?

Plus size fashion today has come a looooong way! We’ve come from matronly to serving full runaway looks!

I am so grateful for those who have impacted the evolution of plus size fashion to get it to where it is now.

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?

The biggest myth I have read from readers is that they CAN’T wear something because of their size.

I live to debunk that myth every day, lol!

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?

I am currently working on getting my degree in Nursing! Working in the healthcare field has always been my purpose. I am so happy that I am 5 months closer to making that dream come true. (GRADUATING IN AUGUST!)

You can follow me, I am Plus Blog on Instagram @iamplusblog, Facebook at /iamplusblog and Pinterest at /iamplusblog!

How long have you been blogging?

2 years

What or who inspired you to become a plus size fashion blogger? What led you to it?

I’ve always been a lover of fashion and all its many layers but I was truly inspired by my followers.

I would receive so many questions about where I’d purchased something or how would I style a outfit. Then one day I decided to give this blogging thing a try, and now we’re here a few years later.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!

In the beginning it was just a hobby, because I honestly felt no one was truly interested in what I had to say. But I was totally shocked by the amazing feedback I received!

This then became more than a hobby and more of a part- time job, which I loved because I have so much to talk about.

I’m hopefully wanting to become a full-time blogger in the near future.

Lane Bryant x TCFStyle Series-Haute Glam Hollie
Lane Bryant Lena Dress with Tortoise Belt Buckle (Up through a 28)

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

I would say my waist. I’ve found throughout the years that I never truly appreciated my body the way I should. In the past, I’ve always looked at the flaws and not the assets.

But with time and meeting other fabulous individuals, I’ve learned to love my body features. For me, my waist is my favorite and I love adding belts, high waisted skirts, etc. to really show off that hourglass figure.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?

I’m challenged with finding consistent fashion styles within different brands of clothing as well as high end luxury lines.

For the most part, many companies have added plus size clothing to their fashion lines. But many have not mastered the idea of creating fun, sexy, trendy styles for plus size women!

I’m continually striving to advocate that as a plus size woman we want to see more inclusion for plus size clothing, in all major brands.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?

As a plus size woman you are automatically a part of a sisterhood or community of women who understand the daily struggles you may encounter with being a plus size woman.

Because of that, you can never fear that you’re alone, because the support for one another and encouragement to love yourself at any size, is like no other.

Lane Bryant x TCFStyle Series-Haute Glam Hollie
Lane Bryant Smocked Waist Fit & Flare Dress (Up through a 28)

What’s your favorite thing about being an influencer?

I love being able to share my thoughts on fashion, life or style with individuals of any age, race or size.  Each person has something they can take away from and inspire them to try.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?

I have a Plethora of brands and designers but for the sake of time my top 5 in no particular order would be:

  1. Lane Bryant
  2. Asos
  3. Target
  4. Eloquii
  5. Christian Siriano

Describe your personal style.

I would say my style is Trendy Chic with a touch of Avant-Garde

Which blogger inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?

My top 3 plus size fashion bloggers would be:

  1. Rochelle Johnson@iambeauticurve
  2. Hayet Rida – @hayet.rida
  3. Kelly Augustine

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?

I think the most common surprise to me is people believe just because your plus size you can’t be stylish or set trends.

I think that’s the farthest thing from the truth! Style is what you make it.

And when given the right tools anyone of any size can create a style that will make heads turn.

I personally feel plus size woman are some of the most stylish and fashion forward woman thus far.

What do you think about here plus size fashion is today, versus a few years back?

I think plus size fashion has advanced in a major way and has made great strides in becoming mainstream, but I feel there is still work to be done.

But it will take continuous voices of plus size bloggers and influencers to keep the momentum going and moving forward in a positive way.

Lane Bryant x TCFStyle Series-Haute Glam Hollie

How long have you been blogging?

3 years

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger/influencer? What led you to it?

My younger self. I entered the corporate world and I wasn’t prepared with the proper wardrobe. There weren’t a lot plus size bloggers who did career wear and functional wardrobes, for career women.

I want to be the blogger I needed when I was a young career woman.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

My waist 🙂

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?

Definitely my lower belly! It’s so hard to dress for a pear shape with a pronounced lower belly.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?

My curves, for sure – the way I “fill” out dresses and skirts!

Sharing what I have learned about dressing yourself and feeling good and confident. Also becoming a resource for women who are looking for plus size fashion options and style.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?

Lane Bryant, Reformation, FTF, and Tanya Taylor

Describe your personal style.

It’s all neutral glam with a hint of femme

Which blogger inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?

That it has to be either dowdy or overly sexualized. There is a middle ground.

You CAN dress like the other fashion girls, AND you DON’T have to just wear fast fashion.

There are options!

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?

I am launching a YT channel soon! I am really aiming for it to be more than hauls, I want to create plus size capsules, work wear, how to style the latest trends, how to shop your OWN closet, etc.

You can subscribe here for when I upload my first video soon.

You can also follow me, A Neutral Life on Instagram @aneutrallife, Facebook at /aneutrallife and Pinterest at /aneutrallife!

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?

It’s not a dress size, it’s a woman who is happy in her body and uses fashion to express herself.

She wears the clothes; they don’t wear HER.

How long have you been blogging?

Stay Tuned…

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger/influencer? What led you to it?

Wow! So much has inspired me to be where I am. I would say being 100% comfortable in my skin and wanting everyone to feel this same freedom, would be the biggest inspiration.

I honestly had no clue that I would be here, in this space, but there is something bigger than me that is driving this ship forward and letting my image and voice be heard.

Growing up, I’ve seen so many women strive to be someone or something that they weren’t, trying to fit the social norms. No matter if I fit it, I made a vow to be genuinely happy with myself and share that light with others which landed me here.

I find myself, yeah, showing my style influence but I think it’s imperative to share a word of encouragement and letting your image speak volumes of strength.

Also, I was inspired to show people that what you look like doesn’t determine who you are, where you can go and who you can influence.

There are so many misconceptions of how a woman, plus size woman or a black plus size woman is supposed to be and I always want to share my life living outside of the box and encourage others to do the same.

LB x TCFStyle Series with Kennie Powe

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

I honestly don’t have a favorite; my body works like a compilation of wins!!

Even the areas that I like less than others still compliment my body, which makes it uniquely mine. I can say I have style tips for my specific body type!

Like, I always shop my blazers oversize, to go over my hips. This allows me to belt it, to make a more contoured fit or to layer comfortably.

Wrap dresses are my best friend. I have a short torso and long legs, so heels help elongate my figure when in pants and dresses.

What are the challenges, if any, you face in being plus-size?

Even though the plus community has come such a long way; I still CANT FIND JEANS I LOVE, lol. I think that will always be my gripe with fashion.

Unless I create them myself!

LB x TCFStyle Series with Kennie Powe

What’s your favorite thing about being plus-size?

My favorite thing about being plus sized is my curves and filling out everything that I wear.

What’s your favorite thing about being an influencer?

I believe my favorite thing about being a blogger is the sharing of love, information and building a community of people who ultimately have the same goal, which is to love themselves unconditionally.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?

My wardrobe consists of so many favorites but to name a few: Target lol, Lane Bryant which I have been wearing middle school, Jibri, Zelie for She, Eloquii, Curved by Sylvia Mollie and 11 Honore etc.

Okay, Miss Kenni Powe, Describe your personal style!

I would describe my personal style as eclectic, sexy, transitional and unpredictable. I feel like I have so many layers or many personalities to my style.

One day I can be a plain Jane and the next I am mixing every pattern created.

I like to have fun when it comes to my style and always thinking outside of the box or trying something new.

LB x TCFStyle Series with Kennie Powe

Which blogger inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?

I have so many bloggers that inspire me in so many facets of my life from mommy bloggers to lifestyle to relationships or to just living out loud, unapologetically. Just because these ladies are just bomb, influence in color was the latest gem that I found.

I feel like they collectively embody some of the core values that I have of sisterhood and striving to be heard in the marketplace not only as women of color but as bloggers in their respective genres, so they are amazing; Kelly Augustine is just wrecking bomb of bloggers.

Shout out to my fav group of mommy bloggers who inspire me (TheCrunchyMommy, Ashley Dorough, Meg Boggs, Katie Crenshaw).

And I can’t forget the many staples in the plus community like TCF, Maui Bigelow and Cee Cee, Garner Style and so many more!

What do you think about here plus size fashion is today, versus a few years back?

Plus fashion today has taken major leaps and bounds versus the plus that I grew up knowing.

I believe plus today represents a woman that wants to be seen, heard and has her own character and say so.

When I was growing up plus fashion was just a bunch of stretchy fabrics and dark colors but now its more expressive, creative and less dismissive.

LB x TCFStyle Series with Kennie Powe

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?

Keep your eyes and ears open for more style collaborations!!

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?

Curvy, Confident, Chic means that you embrace and accept who you are, you’re not afraid to show it or express it and that you are luxury worth to the worth by just being exactly who you are.

You can follow Kenni Powe on Instagram at @kenniepowe

Happy Friday!  It’s time for another spotlight, and today, we are meeting up with social media influence and fashion genius, Troy of A Bear Named Troy!  If you missed our last blogger spotlight, be sure to check out Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs. and then stick around to learn more about Troy!

Troy first caught my attention on Instagram for his fierce and bold style and editorial photos.  He is a Big & Tall plus size influencer YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!

Meet Troy of A Bear Named Troy!!!!

Instagram Page:  A Bear Named Troy
Age:
28
Height:
6’1″
Location:  Los Angeles, CA

Big and Tall Influencer Spotlight- A Bear Named TroyHow long have you been an influencer?
I began building and growing my brand about 3 years ago or so! I guess I hit “influencer” status maybe a year ago?

What or who inspired you to become an influencer? What led you to it?
Honestly, becoming an influencer was all sort of by accident. I had just openly come out as gay and I was excited to share that with the world. I took to Instagram to post photos of my daily outfits, as fashion was something I had ALWAYS loved, but never felt was acceptable to show interest in as a “straight” man.

Pretty quickly, I found myself getting re-posted on other people’s blogs and Instagram shout-out pages. Over time, that just grew and grew until I was featured in my first Buzzfeed article, which I think was the moment things shifted for me as far as my “influencer” status goes.

Do you work as a social media influencer full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
Being a social media influencer is DEFINITELY a full-time job, quite frankly it’s the GREATEST full-time job I’ve ever had, but unfortunately it doesn’t quite pay all my bills on a regular basis yet.

I work freelance in transcription and take jobs periodically to just help bring in some steady income.

Big and Tall Influencer Spotlight- A Bear Named TroyWhat is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
Truthfully, I love every part of my body, but if I HAD to choose I would say my legs. I’m always wearing short shorts, partially because temperature wise I run hella hot, but I also feel sexiest when my legs are on display.

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?
I don’t think any of the challenges I endure truly are because of ME or MY BODY, but I think the fashion industry is still light years behind where we should be as far as clothing options for plus size people.

Plus size people are not this brand new breed of people that just popped up last year when body positivity became the hot topic. Fat bodies have existed forever and have always wanted to be seen and have always wanted to have the same options for self-expression as everyone else.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?
I don’t have a favorite thing about being plus size, but my favorite thing in REGARDS to being plus size is that I was able to overcome all the mental abuse and body shaming growing up to get to the place I am now where I love myself unconditionally. I hope that people of ALL sizes say that’s their favorite thing about THEIR body’s as well.

Big and Tall Influencer Spotlight- A Bear Named Troy

What’s your favorite thing about being an influencer?
I think getting to connect on a pretty intimate level with thousands of people around the world is my favorite thing about being an influencer.

My followers know more about me and my life than most of my family knows and that is really special to me. My followers have been there through so many moments in my life and I have been there for them through major moments in their lives.

They’re my real family.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I’m really loving what some of my indie designer friends are doing – Camille MacMillan and Matthew Westray over at Foxbait are creating some INCREDIBLE designs that really challenge the status quo when it comes to contemporary women’s fashion.

My girl, Jenni Ricetti over at Ricetti Clothing is creating some KILLER street wear looks that focus on precision tailoring and quality fabrics.

I’m also a huge fan of more mainstream designers like Jeremy Scott and his brand Moschino. Brands like River Island have definitely been catching my attention lately, and ASOS will always be a staple of mine.

Describe your personal style.
My personal style is vibrant, bold, colorful, and gender-bending. I like to change up my look pretty often and not get too settled into any current trend.

Big and Tall Influencer Spotlight- A Bear Named Troy

Which influencers and bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any influencers or bloggers currently on your radar?
I’m ALWAYS inspired by my babes @GabiFresh and @AlexMichaelMay. They’re just so fierce and their content is next level. I’m a really big fan of this photographer who goes by @die__yung on Instagram – her work is UNREAL – it’s truly my dream to work with her.

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
I think plus size fashion has made LEAPS AND BOUNDS beyond where it was just a few years ago, but it has much further to go. Still, many women’s brands don’t offer extended sizing and virtually zero men’s brands offer plus sizes.

I think the cool thing now though is that when brands ARE choosing to create extended sizes, they’re creating more trendy, fun, fashionable clothing, rather than just plain old basic T-shirts and jeans.

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
I think the biggest myth about plus size fashion that I’ve seen through connecting with my followers is that bigger men (or men in general for that matter) don’t care about fashion.

So many guys WANT to look cool and feel good about themselves, but are continually given practically zero men’s clothing options to work with. I do my best to encourage everyone to look beyond the assigned gender in clothing because I personally feel anyone can wear anything, but some things (i.e. jeans, jackets, etc.) are designed with a man’s specific body in mind.

And, there should be more fashionable options for men of size to find and be able to wear.

Are you working on anything or have anything to share?
There is a LOT going on in the world of ABearNamedTroy so be sure to follow me on Instagram (@abearnamedtroy) so you don’t miss a thing!

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?
It means loving yourself unconditionally and encouraging others to do the same.

We hoped you enjoyed our recent blogger spotlight featuring Rachel of Lovely in LA!  This week, we are heading to the Heartland to meet up with St. Louis blogger, Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs

Anna’s blog covers her personal style, body image, mental health, budgeting, life as a wife and dog mom, crafting, vintage shopping, and so much more.  She is a plus size blogger YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!

Meet Plus Size Blogger, Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.

Blog:  St. Louis Modern Mrs.
Age: 27
Height: 5’9”
Location: St. Louis, MO

Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.How long have you been blogging?
A year and a half.

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
I started posting my outfits on Instagram two years ago after my friend Sarah encouraged me to do so.

After starting that, I began my journey to body love and acceptance. Through that journey, I found many other powerhouse plus size influencers and bloggers that I loved and admired and knew that I wanted to also share my story with the world through blogging.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
I blog as a hobby on the side when I’m feeling inspired. The frequency can ebb and flow depending on what’s going on with my life personally.

I’ve had a really rough year that has brought on quite a blogging hiatus and so much personal growth I can’t wait to share!

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
I love my waist/hips/butt. I used to hate how curvy I was and would do all I could to hide it. But I’ve really grown to appreciate the hourglass shape my body really has.

I love to play this up with high-waisted skirts and pants. Cinch it all together with a belt to kick it up a notch!

Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?
I feel like standing in my own way can be my biggest challenge. I have learned to love my body, but we all have those days that our confidence is in short supply.

Or, we are out of our element and become hyper aware of things surrounding us and can become self conscious.

It’s times like this that I feel myself thinking, “You can’t do that!”; “You can’t wear that!”; “You can’t be seen doing that!”

But you can!

Wear that dress that scares you, wear that bikini, tear up that dance floor, do that boudoir shoot you’ve been wanting to try, etc.

Plus SIze Blogger Spotlight- Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.Put yourself out there! You are capable of doing so much if you stop standing in the way of yourself

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?
I love how curvy and unique my body is. It is soft and strong. And tells the story of my life through every stretch mark and dimple.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
I love the community that blogging has! I have met some amazing people that I wouldn’t have likely encountered otherwise.

But more than anything – when I started blogging and staring my daily life in Instagram, I vowed to stay transparent and true to myself.

I told myself that if I can help just one woman learn to love herself or just to make a positive difference in the world even in just one life – I would be happy.

And it’s incredibly fulfilling to know that I have successfully done that.

Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
On a day to day basis, I’m a clearance rack/thrift store junkie and love to dig for unique finds. I don’t follow any specific designers, but I drool over everything at Eloquii, ModCloth and Unique Vintage!

Describe your personal style.
Eclectic. It varies so much season to season and day to day. Overall, I would describe it as a combination of classic, vintage and quirky.

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I love:

  • Rosey of Roseybeeme.com for her humor, absolute sass, knowledge, self love, and fashion. She is my absolute favorite!
  • Alex of Chubby Struggles for her adorable style, top notch meme collection, self love and wisdom.
  • Ashley Dorough of House of Dorough for her fashion, transparency, journey to self love and mom life.

Anna of St. Louis Modern Mrs.

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
Plus size fashion has come so far! I love that things that have always been available for straight size women are now accessible for all sizes.

Growing up, trying to shop for plus size clothing was a nightmare! Everything was plain and shapeless.

And tended to lean more towards a business professional or grandma vibe.

And the old plus size fashion “rules” were in full swing, such as:

  • Don’t wear horizontal stripes!
  • Fat girls can’t wear prints!
  • Fat girls can’t wear bright colors!
  • Wear loose, tent shaped clothing to hide all your “problem areas”!

Today, these “rules” have been tossed to the side and we are offered clothing in a broad range of sizes for all style aesthetics. Available in multiple different locations.

We aren’t exiled to one store at the edge of the mall anymore. And a lot of retailers known for their straight size exclusive fashions are expanding their size ranges!

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
People think that plus size clothing can’t be sexy. Or flashy. Or attention grabbing in any way. Which definitely is not the case!

These styles are available! And anyone can rock them!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the phrase, “That looks amazing on you! I could never pull that off!”

But you can! The only thing standing between you and being able to pull off a specific style is yourself.

Plus size blogger spotlight- Anna of St Louis Modern MrsAre you working on anything or have anything to share?
I want to be able to share more crafting tutorials on the blog soon and to be able to open an online marketplace for crafted goods!

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?
To me, this means fiercely living unapologetically in the skin you are in. To love your body for all its beauty and societal “imperfections.” Be a force to be reckoned with.

Check out Anna’s blog at STLModernMrs.Wordpress.com!!

What do you think of her style and her thoughts? Is her blog one you read? Let’s discuss!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know more about the plus size fashion blogger Gess of GessFlyy!  She was really cool, right???  This week, we’re heading from Atlanta to the West Coast to meet up with blogger extraordinaire, Rachel of Lovely in LA!  If you don’t know Rachel, you DEFINITELY should!  She has worked as a fit and fashion model, went to FIDM for fashion design and manufacturing and has worked closely with brands as an influencer, designer, and trend forecaster.  Rachel shares her love of fashion and knowledge of the plus size market to her creative outlet, Lovely in LA!  She is a plus size blogger YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!

Meet Rachel of Lovely in LA!!

Blog:  Lovely in LA
Height:  5’10”
Location:  Los Angeles

How long have you been blogging?  5.5 years
Rachel 1What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
I was tired of not seeing my type of style represented anywhere in my size! I was constantly receiving compliments from women of all sizes about what I was wearing, so I decided to start sharing my daily outfits. I also wanted to show women that you can look fabulous regardless of your size.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
I now blog full-time but it hasn’t always been that way. I started my blog quite a few years back casually while working full-time as a sales director for a trend forecasting service. It has since evolved way beyond that, and I am now able to do this full-time. Having my blog has allowed me to take on creative consulting projects and manage influencer relations for brands. It has also allowed me to design and collaborate on a few capsule collections!

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
I am not sure I have a favorite. I definitely love my legs and can be found wearing a ton of skinny jeans and dresses to show them off.
Rachel 2What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?
Shopping is still a challenge for me! While I feel like we have come a long way, there is still so much that needs to be done.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
I love meeting new bloggers, attending events and working with brands that I may not otherwise have had the chance to collaborate with. There’s also the creative side  – setting up shoots, selecting locations and props to really make photos come to life.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
Oh, there are quite a few right now, and my list of favorites are always changing!  Eloquii, Ripley Rader, Slink Jeans, Asos, Rachel Pally, Tart Collections, Reformation and some of Nordstrom’s in-house brands that recently extended their sizes like Leith & BP.
Rachel 3 1Describe your personal style.
Classy, elegant, on trend. Since I live in LA and the weather is  great all the time, I wear a lot of dresses.

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
There are a few I have always loved and admired for their personality, style and business savvy. Off the top of my head right now are Styled By Reah, Curvy Girl Chic, Jennifer Buckingham, Esther Lafourcade of Esthereal, Gavyn Taylor, Kat Tanita of With Love from Kat, Love & Loathing LA… I feel like there are too many to list and probably some great ones I have missed!

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
Something people may not know about me is that I have been in this industry for a very long time. I started as a fit model for Nordstrom over 11 years ago before blogging had even taken off. The biggest difference I have seen since I started out is that there are a lot more brands offering plus in much better styles. However, we still have a long ways to go.
Rachel 4What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
I personally hate the assumption that there are certain things we shouldn’t or won’t wear.  Whether it’s crop tops, bright colors or the latest trends, women of all sizes should be able to determine what they want to wear.

Are you working on anything or have anything to share?
I am always working on things 🙂 Some I can’t quite share just yet!

Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
Several things! If there is something you want to do, start it today! Don’t wait for that perfect moment or your perfect body or whatever else it may be that you are waiting on to get started. It is never too late to start on a new path. Also, we (bloggers, creatives) really appreciate you and could not do this without the support of our readers and followers.

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?
To me, it means being comfortable in your own skin and owning who you are (whether that be your body, your style, your personality etc.) My favorite people are ones who have a good sense of themselves, know who they are and are comfortable with that. Confidence is quiet; insecurities are loud.Rachel 5
