The fashion industry has long been rightfully criticized for its lack of inclusivity, particularly when it comes to plus size clothing. Thankfully, there has been a growing movement in recent years towards more inclusive representation, and the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show (TPSFS) produced by non-profit organization, Malia Indigo, is one example of this progress.
TPSFS has become a celebrated annual event since its inception in 2017, showcasing a remarkable evolution in the fashion industry’s approach to inclusivity and diversity. This event is “Canada’s largest fashion show focusing on plus size individuals.”
TPSFS’s vision for the event shares that “we are redefining beauty standards and empowering individuals to embrace their own unique beauty.”
The Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show has created a platform for plus size designers and models to showcase their talents and for the Canadian plus size community to come together, celebrate their bodies, and enjoy a night of fashion and fun. For too long, the plus size community has been excluded from the mainstream fashion conversation. So, we created our own: Our own plus size events and much needed conversations. And the TPSFS provides a much-needed space for plus size people to see themselves represented in the fashion world.
How to Attend the Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show
The 2024 Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show will be held on Saturday, September 7th, at the Toronto Reference Library. The event will feature a panel discussion, a fashion show, and an afterparty.
